WHAT TO EXPECT
Weekend 1: Essential Anatomy & Movement Principles + Pilates Fundamentals
Your first weekend begins by exploring Joseph Pilates’ original Mat repertoire, the foundation from which all modern Pilates evolved. You’ll study his classical exercises, understanding their purpose, structure, and intended benefits, while learning how the MNT Method thoughtfully evolves this approach to reflect today’s knowledge of exercise science, biomechanics, and a more dynamic, athletic style of Pilates.
Alongside this historical grounding, we’ll introduce key concepts in functional anatomy and movement principles, giving you the tools to see how the body moves from the inside out. You’ll learn to teach with a modern, athletic sensibility, preserving the strength, control, and flow of the classical work while making it more accessible, dynamic, and relevant for every body in today’s group class setting.
Weekend 2: Pilates Fundamentals Continued + Coaching & Teaching Skills
At the start of your second weekend, you’ll continue learning and practicing the MNT Method Mat repertoire, refining your understanding of movement mechanics and class flow. From the very beginning, we prioritize hands-on teaching practice, helping you get comfortable leading exercises, cueing, and coaching in real time. This early practice not only helps solidify key principles but also builds community, confidence, and connection among instructors in training.
Once the full repertoire is covered, we’ll shift focus to coaching and teaching skills. You’ll learn MNT’s signature approach to transitions, sequencing, and class setup, mastering the art of verbal and visual cueing to create a clear, engaging client experience.
You’ll also train your eye for optimal form and alignment, explore class programming and progression, and learn how to use music, rhythm, props, and energy flow to elevate every session. By practicing in a supportive environment that honors all learning styles, you’ll grow through a holistic, experiential approach to teaching.
Ongoing Training: Mentorship + Real Teaching Experience
Your journey doesn’t end after the two weekends; it’s just beginning. Following your in-person training, you’ll enter the next phase of the program, designed to turn knowledge into embodied teaching confidence.
During this phase, you’ll continue developing your skills through a combination of practice, observation, and teaching experience, with access to mentorship and guided feedback, as well as opportunities for independent self-practice to support your growth and certification requirements.
This phase ensures you leave the program with more than memorized moves; you’ll have the tools to confidently lead a room, offer effective cueing and adjustments, program thoughtful group flows, and adapt to every level of client with clarity and confidence.
Certification must be completed within 3 months from the end of the in-person lectures.
