Frequently Asked Questions

+ Can I take a Group Reformer Class if I've never done Pilates before?

Absolutely! As long as you're not dealing with an injury, you should be just fine in our mixed-level group Reformer classes! If you're wanting to learn the ropes before joining a group class, we also offer private sessions. Email us at info@mntstudio.co to book!

+ Is Pilates appropriate during pregnancy?

Yes, Pilates is a wonderful way to stay in shape, feel good, and keep a strong and healthy body during pregnancy. Please let your instructor know if you are expecting and we can help you modify exercises accordingly. If you would like to continue participating in group classes after 20 weeks, you are able to do so as long as you take one Prenatal Orientation private appointment to learn safe modifications. + What is the difference between Reformer Pilates and Mat Pilates?

Mat Pilates uses your own body weight to challenge your muscles, whereas Reformer Pilates combines resistance training from the springs with body weight resistance to challenge your body. Whether you take a Mat class on MNT Online or a Reformer class in our Palo Alto studio, you're guaranteed a challenging and safe workout!

+ What should I wear?

Our Palo Alto studio requires that you wear grip socks for group classes and private sessions. We sell grip socks in our retail shop, so just ask if you forget yours! You should also wear comfortable but form-fitting clothes so our instructors can see your form and make appropriate corrections. Bear in mind your legs will sometimes be in the air, so if you're going to wear shorts make sure they move with you.
